-          ¿Cómo has llegado a aquí? ¿Por qué Polonia?

Lo tenía claro: no me importaba el país, la lengua, el clima…quería un proyecto donde trabajar con niños y concretamente niños con pocas oportunidades y en desventaja social. Lo encontré en Łódź, Polonia. Des de el principio supe que iba a ser una gran experiencia, pero lo que no esperaba era que iba a conocer a gente que fue como mi familia. Mis compañeras de trabajo y piso fueron mis grandes apoyos y amigas des del principio, y con los niños confirmé mi teoría de que a veces los alumnos pueden ser tus mejores maestros. Mi  nivel “considerable” de polaco a ellos, sin lugar a duda.

Os dejo con una de mis anécdotas favoritas. Una de tantas. Hice mi primera tortilla española de patatas en Polonia y me enseñó a hacerla mi compañera de piso Ucraniana.

Irte de EVS no es solo tu proyecto, sino todo lo que vives por el hecho de ir a un nuevo país, vivir con gente de otras culturas y compartir experiencias internacionales. Firmo y finalizo con mi nombre polaco. Me lo pusieron mis niños polacos, y dice exactamente lo que significa.

-               ¿How did you get here? ¿Why Poland?

I had it clear: I did not mind the country, language, weather…I wanted a Project where to work with children and specifically few opportunities and social disadvantage children. I found it in Łódź, Poland. I knew from the beginning it was going to be a great experience, but what I did not expect was to find a people that were like my family. My work and flat mates were my big support and friends from the beginning, and with children I confirmed my theory about children being sometimes the best teacher you might have. My quite good polish is because of them, sure.

I leave you with one of my favorite anecdote, one of many. I did my first potatoes Spanish tortilla in Poland and I was thought by my flat mate from Ukraine.

Going to EVS is not just your Project, but all you live because of the fact that you go to a new country, you live with people from other cultures and you share international experiences.

I sign and end with my polish name, given by my polish children, which says exactly what it means.
